Livestock Services aspires to be one of, if not the most compliant, organisations in the country as well as the sub-region. To facilitate for this, the Co-operative has a designated compliance team headed by a regulatory compliance manager whose mandate is to ensure that all of the activities the Co-operative undertakes are in line with local and international statutes.
Apart from keeping check of statutes, the compliance team also fosters integrity in all operations of the Co-operative in order to guarantee quality of the products we distribute and the support we offer. Amongst the products stocked are a number of Medicines and Allied Substances, Dangerous drugs as well as Pesticides and Toxic Substances which may have a significant bearing on public, animal and environmental health. The compliance team, in conjunction with the various designated responsible persons, is in constant engagement with enforcement organisations such as the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority, Zambia Environmental Management Agency, and the Drug Enforcement Commission among others in order to secure such products that could easily be abused. The team sits as an advisory focal point for all arms of the Co-operative in order to enhance the credibility of the Co-operative and cement it as a beacon for integrity.
The Co-operative’s internal assurance function, headed by an assurance manager, aims to enhance and protect the Co-operative’s value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight.
The function is part of the internal controls established to assist safeguard the Co-operative’s assets and to add value to the Co-operative by providing independent evaluation, analysis, appraisals, recommendations, counsel and information on the Co-operative’s systems of internal control, effectiveness of risk management, and its operational efficiency.
