LIQUID NITROGEN

Nitrogen is used in large quantities in the chemical industry for blanketing, purging and pressure transfer of flammable chemicals. It is also commonly used as a balance gas in mixtures. Other applications include the electronic industry; modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) of food stuffs; heat treatment of various metals; the production of ammonia; and in fire extinguishing. Liquid nitrogen is used for freezing, shrink fitting, cryogenic grinding of plastics, rubbers and some other chemicals products, and to store biological materials.
